How It Works
Download & Install
Download the SpireMeta Tracker for your platform. Installation takes less than a minute.
Link Your Account
Generate an API key on spiremeta.gg and paste it into the tracker. This connects your runs to your profile.
Play the Game
That's it. Every time you finish a run in Slay the Spire 2, the tracker detects the new run file and uploads it automatically.
Step-by-Step Installation
Download
- Go to spiremeta.gg/download and click "Download for Windows."
- The file
SpireMeta-Setup-{version}.exewill download.
Install
- Run the installer. If Windows SmartScreen shows "Windows protected your PC," click More info → Run anyway. This appears because the app is new and building its reputation with Microsoft. The app is open source and safe.
- The installer runs silently and creates a Start Menu shortcut. No restart needed.
First Launch
SpireMeta opens the Welcome wizard automatically on first launch. Follow the Account Linking steps above.
Account Linking
The tracker needs an API key to upload runs to your SpireMeta.gg profile.
Step 1: Log in to SpireMeta.gg
Go to spiremeta.gg and sign in with your Steam account (or Discord, if linked).
Step 2: Generate an API Key
Navigate to Settings → Desktop App (or go directly to spiremeta.gg/settings#desktop). Click Generate API Key. A key starting with sm_live_ will appear.
Step 3: Copy the Key
Click the copy button next to the key. Keep this page open — you'll need it in the next step.
Step 4: Paste in the Tracker
In the SpireMeta tracker's Welcome wizard (Step 3 — "Link Account"): paste the API key into the input field, click Verify, and look for the green checkmark confirming the connection.
First Upload — Existing Run History
If You've Already Played StS2:
The tracker scans your run history folder and finds all completed .run files. Click Upload All to send your entire history to SpireMeta. A progress bar shows the upload status. This typically takes 1–2 minutes for 50 runs.
If You're New to StS2:
No worries — the tracker will watch for new runs as you play. Your dashboard will populate after your first completed run.
After the upload, visit spiremeta.gg/profile/runs to see your runs, stats, and charts.
What the Tracker Does (and Doesn't Do)
✓ What It Does
- Watches the StS2 run history folder for new .run files
- Parses completed run data (deck, relics, floor history, result)
- Uploads parsed data to your SpireMeta.gg profile
- Runs as a lightweight system tray app — less than 80 MB of memory
✗ What It Does NOT Do
- Read or modify your game files (only reads the run history folder)
- Access your screen, keystrokes, or other applications
- Upload any personal information beyond your game runs
- Run while StS2 is not installed
- Affect game performance (runs independently of the game)
Troubleshooting
Privacy & Data
Your Runs Are Private by Default
Every run you upload is visible only to you. No one else can see your runs, stats, or play history unless you explicitly choose to share a specific run.
What Data We Collect
- Run data only: Character, deck, relics, floor-by-floor decisions, result, duration, seed
- Account linkage: Your SpireMeta username and Steam ID (for authentication)
- No personal data: We don't collect your name, email (unless you provide one), location, or any information outside of your Slay the Spire 2 runs
